Contest Kick-off
The weekend kick-off to the 2010 PBS KIDSGO! Young Writers and Illustrators contest (formerly Reading Rainbow contest)
was a success. Nearly two dozen youngsters along with their parents, grandparents, guardians, and siblings braved the cold
Saturday, February 13th, to attend a workshop at Barnes & Noble in Bowling Green. Teacher and children's book author Anita
Shrader facilitated the event, sharing pointers on writing a winning entry. The writing contest sponsored by WKYU-PBS, now in its
16th year is a local/national contest for Kindergarten through third-grade students, who write and illustrate their own stories. The deadline
for entry is Monday, April 5th. Local winners in each grade category are announced at the Southern Kentucky Festival of Books on
April 17th at the Carrol Knicely Center in Bowling Green. Take a look.
