WKYU-PBS’ DEEB WINS EMMY AWARD

Bowling Green – WKYU-PBS Public Affairs Producer and Host Barbara Deeb received a television Emmy at the 42nd Annual Midwestern Regional Emmy Awards Saturday in Belterra, Indiana. Deeb was awarded the honor for her talents as host of the weekly PBS program OUTLOOK with Barbara Deeb. Commenting on the honor, WKYU-PBS Production Manager, David Brinkley said, “ Barb’s work is another example of the national level of professionalism that we benefit from locally. This is a well deserved honor that gives the industry an opportunity to recognize her talents also. We are very proud of her.”

This year, nearly 600 entries were submitted for consideration from organizations in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Kentucky, which make up the Ohio Valley Emmy chapter. Only 239 of those entries received nominations, with Emmy statues awarded to those who met or surpassed the highest average score.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Science was founded in 1946. Since first being awarded in 1949, the Emmys have become the most prestigious and sought-after awards in television.

Deeb has hosted OUTLOOK on WKYU-PBS for 17 years, making it the longest-running weekly public affairs television program in southcentral Kentucky.
