Writers Workshop

A writers workshop was held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 7 pm CDT at Barnes & Noble, Bowling Green.

Dozens of children from throughout the region attended the Reading Rainbow writing workshop February 29th at Barnes & Noble in Bowling Green. The annual event is the kick-off to the writing contest for Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students from throughout the region. WKU Art Instructor Yvonne Petkus and Bowling Green Public Library Children's Specilist Toni McIntyre shared ideas and tips for writing a good book. Children have until March 31st at midnight to turn in their original book. They will be judged against their peers locally. Winner will be announced at 3pm on April 19th as part of the Southern Kentucky Book Festival. Rules and entry forms are avilable on the web. The Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators contest is sponsored by WKYU-PBS, Barnes & Noble, The Southern Kentucky Book Festival, and Wal Mart.
